The first of a few sketchdumps; Les Miserables has really taken over my brain. I think these are dated in May 2008 or June 2008? I'm not entirely sure. You should see me getting better in these and also changing some character designs (Damn you, Marius. I just can't get him right!) Critiques would HIGHLY appreciated on all of these since I need people telling me more of what they think so and so looks like, etc.
Man, I love this book/musical. Javert lives! Sorry for big image size.
Art is (c) Me Les Miserables is (c) Victor Hugo and... whoever wrote the play I guess.
You already know I dig the Javvie designs. Eponine is very cute, but there is something about her that looks a little too much like Ariel - I think it's her eyes perhaps? I really love the skirt-thing though, seriously. And I love the way she seems kind of muscular, subtly (especially in her arms) it portrays a visual sense of that toughness to her character, it's a nice touch. I really, really like super-serious 'don't fuck with me' Javert in the bottom-middle. Yes.

Javert is generally a "don't fuck with me" kinda guy, I think. Lol.
"Disney princess" was the mold I started working with on Eponine, Hopefully if I keep at it, she'll break away from it some more. I wish there was some interaction between Eponine and Javert; it would've been entertaining I think.

Aaaand there's more?! Wow. I love how you've designed Eponine. It really works. One thing tht's continuing to impress me is your continuity on faces. It's something I really do struggle with...getting people to look like themselves all the time. But you're nailing it! I particularly like the attention you pay to different face shapes. Awesome work!
Both of those are things I had to sit down and just focus on getting right; trying to make sure Valjean and Javert's face types were different yet similiar, as I consider them both to be powerful guys; but Javert is more hard angles and lines while Valjean is softer.

I really love your style! I've been recently obsessed with les mis too X3 You did Javert and Eponine perfectly. I think Marius' hair is just a bit curlier.. other than that, they're all fantastic! X3
